Trained Physiotherapists ~ accurate diagnosis ~ best treatment possible

South Cowichan Physiotherapy & Sports Rehabilitation was established in 1998 when Vince Avery originally opened his clinic in the Shawnigan Lake Village. In 2004, he moved his clinic to a new location in Cobble Hill where it continued to thrive in the growing surrounding communities. In 2010, the clinic was relocated to the Valleyview Center at #59-1400 Cowichan Bay Road. This move has doubled our space and allowed the clinic to expand to meet the needs of our clientele.

As a tinkerer of the human body, a physiotherapist has two responsibilities: Help to fix the current problem and help to prevent any future damage from occurring. When assessing you, I will be looking at how your body functions together as a whole, along with your presenting complaint, to discover any and all underlying causes of the problem.

The Cowichan Valley has been home to me since I was 7 years old, and I believe it is the most beautiful place in the world!

My passion is movement! I believe that mastering fundamental movements will significantly decrease the chances of injury and will allow you to continue with your favorite activities for years to come.

Are you someone that is seeking to improve in sports? Do you want your knee to stop bugging you each time you squat? Do you have a goal of lifting heavy weights? Having experience in all of these areas, I can help you. I have a diverse background in health and wellness from volunteering at G.F. Strong rehabilitation centre, to personal training for over 8 years, and specializing in athletic performance with well-known clubs - Burnaby Winter Club ice hockey, Coquitlam Reds baseball team, Fraserview Golf Club.

The body is an instrument that allows us to function with daily activities, and if taken for granted, these activities can be difficult to execute. With my programs, even the most basic workouts can be fun and challenging. I will also ensure that each program is tailored to your specific goals.

Suffering from chronic pain, auto-immune, anxiety, infertility or just need a quick fix on your back, my approach to treatment is total mind/body health through the ancient Chinese Medicine lens - a five pillar approach; diet, exercise, massage, patent herbal medicine and acupuncture with needles or low-level laser.

These methods help relieve muscle pain, calm the nervous system; assist digestion/nutrient absorption; Tui Na massage, fire cupping & gua sha scraping can release sore or tight muscles; and lastly dietary and exercise recommendations can enhance recovery.

The Chinese Medicine lens is helpful for people of all ages, as the focus is on bringing balance to the human body by optimizing the internal and external systems.
