What makes this workshop series special?
Throughout our lives we learn about pain through experience. From scrapes and falls to big and small traumas, we all have an understanding of what pain is, and how it can affect us. We often come to understand that pain is equivalent to danger or damage to tissues.
However, as we go through life, we typically aren’t taught about how pain works. Pain is a complex and protective response driven by the nervous system – and when it comes to our pain, everything about us matters.
This series aims to empower you with knowledge, tools, and experience to shift your pain; it encourages you to be curious and diligent in the process so you can come out the other end feeling like the driver in your life, rather than a passenger to your pain.
What is the purpose of the Chronic Pain Self-Care Program?
The Chronic Pain Self-Care Program is an 11-week small-group workshop that aims to help people living with longstanding pain to deepen their understanding of the factors that contribute to their pain. The series is built on principles of modern pain science and requires active engagement; in other words, this is not a strictly educational series!
As pain is such an individual experience, this workshop series is designed to guide you in exploring ways that you can create changes in your pain, daily activities, and quality of life.
