What can I do for you?
Do you suffer from chronic pain? Do you often get headaches? Well, the focus of my treatment is to restore balance and function, and to provide relief from pain. Manual therapy is an important component of my therapeutic approach. This involves using my hands to release stiffness in the joints along your spine and the peripheral joints, like your shoulder or ankle. Unlike chiropractic treatment, which often uses higher velocity techniques, I tend to use slower, more gradual techniques to facilitate a release of tension in the joints. To help release tension in the muscular and fascial systems, I use medical acupuncture and intramuscular stimulation (IMS). This involves inserting fine needles into the muscles to gradually release tension in your muscles. However, medical acupuncture can also be used in a very gentle way to calm inflammation and aid with your relaxation.
How else can I help you?
Do you suffer from scoliosis? Well, my original physiotherapy training took place in Germany where I was also trained to treat people suffering from scoliosis. A German physiotherapist pioneered something called “the Schroth Method” which is an exercise-based approach for the treatment of scoliosis. Teaching the Schroth method to children, adolescents and adults gives me great satisfaction. It is very rewarding to provide patients with a powerful set of tools with which they can help themselves to greater health and physical mobility.
Do you have chronic dizziness? Have you been told you have vertigo? Well, another focus of my treatment is vestibular rehabilitation. This is a treatment for people who suffer from dizziness, and balance issues, especially positional vertigo. The most common cause of dizziness is when the crystals in the inner ear become stuck in one of the small canals in your inner ear. Vestibular rehabilitation involves a set of positions that I can help place you in that should help unclog these stuck crystals. Often, I am able to give people very good relief in only a few sessions and combine this with education and specific exercises to ensure a long-term benefit
Want to know a little bit more about me?
After growing up in southern Germany, I moved to Canada and made my home on beautiful Vancouver Island. It is a very special place and I enjoy being close to nature. It is a privilege to be out hiking, biking and exploring the local waters on my paddle board.
